The Truth About Envy

Who do you envy? And why?

I was born in a Christian home, so most of the time you hear about envy from a negative point of view. But this perspective change my view that emotion.

One of my mentors Gina puts it this way: "The reason I envy other has more to do with a desire not fulfilled or not identified with the other person itself."

So how good curious decided to think a little about your prospect if I'm honest I choco much at the beginning.

These are the five things to keep in mind, when envy crips in:

1. Like any other emotion (good or bad), envy can serve as "light or flashlight" indicating that there is a need or desire we have that has not been satisfied.

2. Most of the time you envy someone's because that person has something you (still) do not have. When you concentrate on the feeling, only from a negative point of view, you tend to suppress (not identified) that desire that is trying to come to the surface.

3. The best way to combat envy, it is taking a moment to identify which is the need or desire not fulfilled.

4. Take it to God in prayer. Thank you for your provision for that person. (The secret of contentment is to celebrate what God has given to others) and enter into a process of honesty with ourselves to make sure we have not been "suppressing" that desire, because of fears or insecurities we have not confronted.

5. In prayer, we must create a plan (strategies) to meet the need or desire just identified. Understand the following, most of us do not know we want something until we are exposed to the (example, I did not know who wants to study psychology or coach until I started interacting with psychologists and coaches). I see it as follows, if it is a genuine desire, you will not hurt anyone (such as reaching your financial freedom) if God gave it to someone else, then it may be also available for you.

If you struggle to feel envious of other people, I challenge you to begin to stop focusing on the feeling and start.

I remember the biblical story where Cain killed his brother Abel, look what God told the: "Why are you angry and why has your countenance fallen If you do well, would not you be blessed but if not ?; you do, sin lieth at the door, watching. " Genesis 4: 6-7

Cain wanted to please God, but was not willing to invest to bring God a good offering (good results), but then became angry when he saw his brother Abel if they had taken the time to look good fruit (results) ... the stupidest thing was that instead of rectifying the envy acted.

Although you and I will not "kill" anyone when you envy envy ... Acting is an indication that we have not produced the "results" we want in an area of our life (a successful business, lose weight, have a boyfriend or husband, etc).

Once you identify that want something that someone else has, stop focusing on that person and concentrate on you and God! Imagine God telling you as Cain told "If you do well (honest to go with that's what you want, will pray and idenficaras a plan), serious blessed".

Get your blessing to be more honest with yourself and with God in relation to what you want. Stops spinning, say you wanted to have 10,000 dollares when really need 15,000 or say you love the situation in which these, when in fact it is not. You do not have to shout your "needs" to everyone, but at least you must be honest with you and with God, if you really want to live a happy and full life.

Action: Can you think of any situation where you make your way envious of someone recently? What is the desire or need that is trying to come to the surface? What can you do to make it happen? remember, you're not alone. God is with you and also so is our community.

XO,

Pachi
